The Ultimate Guide to Wilderness Living

9781569756508.01The Ultimate Guide to Wilderness Living

This is one of the most thorough books on wilderness living that I have ever seen. “The Ultimate Guide to Wilderness Living”  is even recommended by Les Stroud, y’all probably know him as “Survivorman.” That in itself should grab your attention. If that isn’t enough, please note that it is written by John and Geri McPherson, who actually taught Stroud in one of their primitive earth skills classes. That’s right, the McPhersons were an intrigal part of Stroud’s early love of the wilderness. People with that kind of passion for primitive skills are who I want to learn from. Since the McPhersons do not teach classes anymore, this is as close as one can get to taking one of their courses.

I love the detail in this compilation of survival skills. Pictures show small differences in technique that will save you precious time and energy that should not be wasted when it really matters. Sometimes the tiniest details make all the difference in life or death situations. “The Ultimate Guide to Wilderness Living” goes beyond the basics to make your wilderness experience not only survivable, but maybe even fairly homelike with nothing but your hands and the world around you. Another must have for your library from Ulysses Press.

Praise:

“During my first years of learning survival I took a course in survival and primitive earth skills taught by John and Geri McPherson. I was excited by their unbelievable passion and their intrinsic understanding of survival. Their teachings took me from understanding basic skills to a full-blown love for the ancient technologies that humans developed to survive. John and Geri are the real deal. They don’t just teach this stuff, they live it. I loved the experience with them so much I came back a second time a few years later. Now that I have traveled the world as Survivorman—experiencing and filming survival in every ecosystem there is—I can sit back and watch my shows and see John and Geri’s teachings peek through in every situation. I have been able to understand survival because of John and Geri, and can highly recommend this book.”
