Natural Antibiotics and Botanical Treatments Heal Your Body, Heal Your Mind
I am a big believer in natural healing. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe there are quite a few things you need a doctor for, broken limbs, appendicitis, severe head trauma, etc… I also think there are many ways to heal mind, body and spirit given to us by our creator in the form of plants, minerals, rest, aromatherapy, music and the like. Did you know many common foods and herbs are actually natural antibiotics or have natural anti-inflammatory properties? Garlic, onion, lemon balm. Even the old faithful penicillin is naturally made from Penicillium mold .
If you are interested in natural healing ways and do not know which ones are right for your particular situation reading “Natural Antibiotics and Botanical Treatments Heal Your Body, Heal Your Mind” can be a great way to learn. This book tells you which foods can lift your mood, give you energy, help heal common complaints.

Stomach Flu (Gastroenteritis)
Description: Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the mucous membranes in the stomach. (The large intestines are rarely affected.)
If toxins from our food are the cause, it is referred to as food poisoning. But viruses, sometimes bacteria (like salmonella; see box, opposite) or parasites can also be involved. The incubation period from contamination to the onset of symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea is usually only a few hours.
The illness can also be transmitted by indirect physical contact — for example, from the toilet. With poor hand hygiene, the germs can reach the body through food we’ve then touched and ingested. This is why gastroenteritis can spread especially fast in places like primary schools.
In very hot countries, there is also a risk that the germs will settle in drinking water or on uncovered room-temperature food and multiply rapidly.
Often, gastroenteritis passes without complications. However, diarrhea with vomiting usually results in a large liquid and mineral loss.
Symptoms: Most occur suddenly, and include acute diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, nausea, loss of appetite, weakness and a poor all-around general condition.
When to Visit the Doctor: Always see the doctor if infants, young children and older people are affected. Additionally, see the doctor if you’re suffering from continuous diarrhea or vomiting that lasts longer than 1 day (which means a massive loss of fluids), and if you are very weak.
Possible Complications: Blood in stool; dehydration; kidney failure; and hypoglycemia or shock, since the blood volume is greatly reduced due to loss of fluids.
- Make a tea of equal parts of the following herbs: chamomile agrimony, peppermint, cinnamon bark and a fifth ingredient (choose from blackberry leaf, lady’s mantle, silverweed or blueberry leaf). To rest your stomach, have a cup of tea (made half as strong as is indicated on page 152) three times daily, about 90 minutes after a meal.
- Eat fresh papaya.
- In addition, try this tea: pour boiling water over some freshly grated gingerroot. Let it steep for 10 minutes, covered, and drink it unsweetened.
- Try a tincture of bloodroot or oak bark: take 10 drops an hour after a meal three times daily.
- Bed rest.
- Drink plenty of mild, unsweetened herb tea, black tea and water without carbonation. This is especially important for babies, young children and older people, as their bodies quickly dehydrate.
