Green Mountain Woodworks Wood Chips Giveaway

Being from Texas we love to grill. The weather is suitable almost all year to make most anything on the pit. Hubby and I feel that smoke is the key to making your food taste amazing. Plus the smell really makes the neighbors hungry. Green Mountain Woodworks sells the most amazing grilling wood chips so you can enjoy the great smoky flavor too. I first saw Green Mountain’s Wood Chips on Open Sky from Bobby Flay. Y’all gotta know if Bobby likes em they gotta be good. I was sent all 6 varieties of Wood Chips to test out. Yeah. Let’s check out how they did.

We used the California Chestnut on our charcoal grill. Following the directions on the canister we soaked the wood chips for 10 minutes, drained and placed the wet chips on our pre-lit charcoal.

Burgers and Italian Brats were our choice of meats . That way we got to taste the smoky flavor on beef and pork.

The smoke smells amazing from the moment you add it to the coals. Love the way our food tasted. Best burger and brats any of us had eaten in quite awhile.

Green Mountain offers six of our favorite West Coast Native Hardwoods, chopped to the perfect size to enable each particular wood’s unique flavors to enhance any family picnic, barbeque or gourmet grilling experience.

  • California Chestnut (16 oz.) – rich & nutty – Beef loves the smoky flavors and aromas from California Chestnut
  • California Bay Laurel (16 oz.) – peppery zing- Amazing on wild game
  • NW Orchard Walnut (16 oz.) – dark & nutty – Gives Pork a kick love it
  • Pacific Madrone (16 oz.) sweet and fruity -Poultry’s best
  • West Coast Alder (16oz.) rich and sweet – Wonderful on your favorite fish
  • Big Leaf Maple (16 oz.) mild and sweet –Absolutely the perfect smoke pairing for veggies.

I love that you can use the chips on either gas or briquette grills. These are perfect for those that have no access to woods to smoke with. These West Coast woods make an awesome gift for the griller in your life.

Tins (8 ounce)- for those who want to experiment                 $6.50 each + shipping
Buckets (one quart)- for those who know what they like      $12.00 each + shipping

Check out what Bobby Flay has to say about em on OpenSky:

One of the coolest things about smoking meat yourself is that you have the control.  You get to put as much smoke on as you want, develop flavor and reap the rewards!  It is addicting, trust me.  Obviously spice rubs and cuts of meat are very important but what many people don’t realize is that the wood chips you use are key.  There are such things as gourmet wood chips and these are them.

You can choose from two sets of distinct wood flavors – “Sweet” or “Bold”.  Of the “sweet” bunch, the Oregon maple is great with lamb and vegetables—it’s has a mild and sweet smokiness to it.  Pacific madrone is on the fruitier side—try it with beef or poultry.

From the “bold” set California chestnut is more nutty, which is good for pork, beef and chicken. And a word to the wise, don’t go overboard with the California bay laurel wood chips—they have a strong peppery finish. Of course, if you want more of a kick, go for it. Weather’s perfect — I say get grilling!
