Reviews, Giveaways, Recipes and More

I love traveling. The idea of staying in beautiful places really appeals to me. I was super blessed to be able to stay at  the newly renovated Omni Austin Hotel Downtown. The hotel is located in downtown Austin Texas on the corner of 8th and San Jacinto streets. Within easy walking distance of Austin’s famous 6th street, the Texas State Capital and the Austin Convention Center.

They really did an excellent job renovating this magnificent hotel. I love everything about it. Focusing on the top floors of the hotel, they spent over a million dollars per floor on the project.

Omni got their money’s worth in these fresh new luxury suites. The design, by Leo Daly, shows Texas Hill Country charm like barn door entries, hardwood floors and driftwood accents. Suites range in size from a generous 633 to a Texas sized 1717 square feet.

Let me tell y’all about our stay:

Arriving at the hotel, all I can say is wow! The glass exterior of the Omni Austin Hotel is breathtaking.  I would hate to be the person that cleans all these windows, but they do an amazing job. The entire hotel is spotless.

Lobby is beautiful. Love the sky views out the ample widows. I also appreciated the lovely fresh flowers. So beautiful.

Atrium is gorgeous. Glass everywhere. You can watch the golden elevators glide up and down with guests inside. The architect that designed this building was truly a visionary in hotel design.

At check-in, Amy helped us, she was delightful and attentive. We arrived a bit early so she took my cell phone number to let me know as soon as housekeeping had our rooms ready. We waited in the Atrium lobby where there is a full service bar, Anchos Restaurant and a Coffee Bar. The lobby also boasts a hair salon, gift shop, Chasnof Custom and Casual Wear and Southstar Tickets. There is even an art gallery and jeweler in the building. Half of the building serves as home for numerous professional offices.

We stayed in a One Bedroom Get Fit Suite:

Is someone in your family into fitness? Get a fitness suite at Omni. These luxurious suites come complete with treadmill, weighted balls, yoga mats, exercise ball, resistance bands and if you want they even have P90X videos.  I was fortunate enough to get to stay in the only Get Fit Suite with a full sized kitchen. This place is set up. Beautiful counters, tile back-splash, stainless steel appliances. Who could ask for more?

My room came complete with my dream refrigerator, a flat top electric range, dishwasher and microwave to boot. Love this room. Love Omni. If you want to really impress someone take em here. Absolutely beyond gorgeous.

Omni didn’t skimp on the furniture either. Super cushy beds, really luxurious bedding, including feather pillows. Nicely upholstered chairs compliment the rooms. The bedside lamps even have dimmer switches for your convenience.  Housekeeping does an wonderful evening turn down service. They even have a turn down channel on the television that shows beautiful scenery and plays relaxing music. I love these little touches.

Bathroom is gorgeous. Glass shower doors, embossed ceiling tiles, super soft luxurious bathrobes, lighted makeup mirror. Our bathroom wallpaper had the look and feel of snakeskin. The attention to detail is amazing. Omni decorates each of their suites in the style of the location they are in. Some of these Texas treasures even have “cowhide” wallpaper in some the bathrooms. This decorator’s touch looks and feels like the real thing but its paper. Gorgeous. Plenty of closet space, we actually had two closets in our room. One included a safe for your valuables. Security is so important when you travel.

Omni went all out in this renovation. Exquisite wood flooring, (How often do you get wood flooring in a hotel? Perfect touch of Texas), interior doors slide like barn doors, driftwood lamps and flat screen televisions. Our suite had three of them. One for the bedroom, living room and exercise nook.  Love that the artwork isn’t your basic hotel pictures. You can really tell Omni took the time to choose just the right pieces to complete the rooms

One of the many perks of being an Omni Select Member is a morning beverage perk.   Hubby and I awoke to find fresh orange juice and our favorite newspapers delivered right outside our door. With Omni Select you get to choose several preferences for your stay.  My personal preferences are feather pillows, morning beverage, extra towels and pillow as well as an Omni Get Fit Kit for your room. Obviously I didn’t need the kit this time. Omni has outdone themselves with their new fitness suites. If you like to stay in shape and you have the option at the Omni you’re staying at, give it a try you’re going to love it.

Hubby wanted to make use of the treadmill so I got to order room service breakfast. We both opted for the All American Breakfast. We had of two cage free eggs cooked any style, daily potatoes, choice of smoked bacon, sausage, link or Texas ham steak, and  choice of bread ( white/ wheat toast, English muffin, bran muffin, blueberry muffin, or croissant…now that’s a choice of bread). Also included is your choice of juice and coffee or tea. Our breakfast got here very fast. Looks smells and tastes amazing.

I want to say thank you to the entire staff. Everyone that we spoke with was courteous and friendly. Each employee was willing to do what they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Omni has done a great job hiring a truly professional staff.
